Job description :
This post offers an exciting and challenging opportunity for a self motivated and enthusiastic individual to be the lead for physical activity and sport by joining our established and lively YorWellbeing team, part of the Public Health and Adult Social Care team.
The YorWellbeing service supports York citizens to take charge of their own health and wellbeing. This will involve developing relationships with a large number of organisations from voluntary sports clubs to community associations. The post holder will provide advice, guidance and mentoring on developing activities. Wider functions include; organisational and facility management and development, funding, promoting volunteering and social action plus other technical and legal issues related to physical activity including being the lead for men's health and wider aspects of delivery of the wellbeing service. They will also act as the lead contact for the City of York Council on the North Yorkshire Sport partnership, with sports governing bodies and on the Active York Board.
You will have experience in the successful planning, delivery, evaluation and promotion of activity programmes along with significant team working experience, line management of staff and a desire to contribute to our "customer orientated approach". Ideally you will have project management experience and a track record of successful grant funding applications. As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C1- Can express him/herself fluently and spontaneously, almost effortlessly. Only a conceptually difficult subject can hinder a natural, smooth flow of language.
