Bike Mechanic
We are looking for volunteer bike mechanics to work alongside our existing volunteer bike mechanic to repair and recycle secondhand bikes at the Catterick Garrison Bike Library. This is a Yorkshire Bank Bike Library that provides free to loan recycled bikes to children and adults in both the military and civilian communities in the Catterick area.

Bike Mechanic
The Catterick Garrison Bike Library is a Yorkshire Bank Bike Library http://bikelibraries.yorkshire.com/ that provides free to loan recycled bikes to children and adults in both the military and civilian communities in the Catterick area.
The workshop and bike store is behind the Army Welfare Service at Catterick Garrison.
We are looking for additional volunteer bike mechanic support to work alongside our existing volunteer bike mechanic to help meet demand.
This activity runs alongside the Go-Ride club which runs on Saturday mornings to offer coached riding sessions for young people aged 6 years to 17 years in both the military and civilian communities see: https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/club/profile/6188/catterick-garrison-go-ride
The club is hosted by the Army Welfare Service Community Support Team with a team of local volunteers.
Purpose of the volunteer role
To work alongside the existing volunteer bike mechanic to repair and recycle donated secondhand bikes and to service cycles that are on loan in the local community. All tools provided.
Person Specification & Competencies
- Demonstrable competence in bike maintenance; a formal bike maintenance qualification may not be necessary.
- Ability to work in a team
- Confidence to meet and deal with the public
Desirable Competency
- Bike maintenance qualification, e.g CyTech, Velotech.
- Knowledge of cycling opportunities in North Yorkshire
