Kirklees Sport Welfare Marketplace
Are you the welfare officer or safeguarding lead for a sports club or physical activity provider in Kirklees? Are you a coach or committee member who can positively influence safeguarding and wellbeing culture in your setting?
Come along to our Sport Welfare Marketplace event where you can meet local specialist support services and gain advice on supporting your participants' health, wellbeing, safety, and additional needs.
You can also chat with staff from Yorkshire Sport Foundation who can provide guidance on funding, facilities, training, and improving your safeguarding practice.
Exhibitor Information:
- Yorkshire Sport – Sport Welfare Officers: Your local Sport Welfare Officers can provide a range of free support to help you improve your safeguarding practice and welfare culture. This includes training and workshops, looking at policies and procedures, and helping you to meet the requirements set out by your National Governing Body if you are affiliated to one.
- Kirklees Keep in Mind: Kirklees Keep in Mind helps young people in Kirklees to access support to improve their mental health and emotional wellbeing.
- The Base – Change, Grow, Live: The Base offer support around substance misuse to young people in Kirklees.
- Locala Sexual Health: The Locala Sexual Health Outreach and Prevention Team can come to your setting and offer information drop-in sessions for your young people. They can also give advice around healthy relationships and consent.
- The Brunswick Centre: The Brunswick Centre provide LGBTQ+ support for young people across Kirklees and Calderdale. They also have a HIV prevention and support service.
- Community Plus: Kirklees Community Plus offers short-term, flexible support for people of all ages. They work alongside individuals to help them think about what changes they would like to make in their lives and support them to reach their goals. They also work out in the community, engaging and encouraging local residents to make positive changes by building on what they already have. This includes people's strengths, skills, friendships and local services.
Community Plus also supports community and grassroots groups by helping them connect with other organisations and build strong relationships within their local area. - Kirklees Early Action Team: The team provide positive engagement, intervention, education and diversion for youths in the community. Organisations can refer young people where there are concerns around their involvement in anti-social behaviour, negative associations, a deterioration of behaviour at home or school, becoming involved in low level crime, or are on the cusp of criminality.
- Third Sector Leaders (TSL) Kirklees: Third Sector Leaders support community groups, charities and social enterprises across Kirklees with free training, advice and support. They are also the accredited Volunteer Centre for Kirklees matching people who want to volunteer with organisations looking for volunteers.
- Kirklees Young Carers: Kirklees Young Carers work with children and young people across Kirklees who are young carers - this means they are helping to care for someone who has an illness and/or disability. The caring responsibilities may be practical, emotional or personal. The service provides assessed 1:1 and group support to young carers aged 8 -17 and aims to reduce or remove the impacts faced due to the caring role.
- Kooth: Kooth is an NHS-commissioned digital mental health and wellbeing service, providing free and anonymous, online support for 11-25 year olds in Kirklees. Kooth.com provides a variety of self-help tools to build healthy life habits and learn coping strategies as well as the opportunity to chat to their mental health team.

The event is free to attend, there is onsite parking, and tea and coffee will be provided. You can drop in anytime between 3pm and 8pm. It takes place on Tuesday 23 June at the Accu Stadium in Huddersfield.
