About Active Dearne Community Champion
Active Dearne is a programme funded by Sport England, and the three local authorities covering the Dearne Valley to work with communities to get more adults and families on low working incomes, or currently unemployed more active. The programme covers 9 communities in the Dearne Valley, including Denaby, Mexborough, Conisborough, Swinton, Wath, Hoober, Goldthorpe, Thurnscoe and Bolton upon Dearne.
As the Active Dearne Community Champion for Goldthorpe, Thurnscoe or Bolton upon Dearne you will work within the community to encourage residents who are currently inactive to take part in physical activity or sport. The candidate should have worked within the community, understanding the needs, be capable of running effective community projects/events, and be respected as a "go to person" within the community. The candidate will also deliver some sport and physical activity within the community, and also buddy and support people to attend activity in the community. The candidate will also need to work with the Development Manager in the monitoring and evaluation of the programme as and when required.
